Tamara Soto is a canadian-bolivian contemporary artist. Her work engages with the immediate response of the line, shape and color. Primarily an oil painter, her practice extended to mixed media and drawing. Her work explores abstraction in nature as a mystical space rather than a real place.

Her new work looks inwards to find a new vocabulary to express her ancestral journey by creating botanical compositions and abstract figures. Nature provides the main inspiration for her work and gives her the joyful feeling of being in the present.

Painting is a vehicle for exploration; a meditative form of expression where ideas, experiences and emotions are reflected on the surface. Her work explores colour interactions, patterns, contrast, and texture.

Tamara transitioned from working in a non-profit organization and doing freelance graphic design projects to finally focus on her true passion the creation of art. Painting and drawing comes very natural to her. It is an intuitively flowing visual language that she feels very fortunate to explore.
